At the request of the CONSOB (Italian Securities and Exchange Commission), and with reference to news reported today in the press, the Foundation announces that it carried out today an after-market sale of 1.4 billion shares in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the equivalent of 11.98%.

Taking into consideration the screen-based sales made today and in the past few days, the MPS Foundation’s holdings of Banca Monte dei Paschi stock are, as of this moment, 15.07%.

Proceeds from the sales are destined by priority to the total discharge of the residual debt owed to the foundation’s financial creditors.
